Q. How can I tell if my roof has problems before any damage occurs? top of page

A. Unfortunately, problems are usually detected only after serious damage occurs. However,
inspect your roof at least twice a year for cracked or missing shingles, degraded flashing
around chimneys, vent pipes and skylights. These are sure signs of potential problems.
In addition, excessive shingle granules in gutters and downspouts are another visible sign of potential roofing problems. Inside your home be aware of peeling or cracked paint or discoloration on walls or ceilings, as they can also point to damaged roof areas.

Q. If my roof is leaking. Do I need a new roof? top of page

A. Not always. Leaks can occur at sections of a roof that are damaged or due to deteriorated/loose flashings. If there is a total roof system failure, it is usually due to improper installation and/or maintenance, incorrect materials for the existing climate, improper roof design of the home or, more likely, the age of the roofing materials. Weathertite Systems LLC will offer a free and honest written estimate of your roofing needs.

Q. If it is determined that my home needs a re-roof, what are my choices? top of page

A. There are two basic options:
1. You may choose to cover the existing roof cover with a new roof covering, providing the roof
underlayment and decking is sound and the previous layers do not exceed maximum allowable layers of roof covering for your locale. Generally speaking, 2 layers of shingles are maximum allowable in most municipalities.

2. You can also choose a complete replacement of the roof system which requires removal of the
existing system.

Q. How do I know if I'm selecting a reputable roofing contractor? top of page

A. There are several things you need to know to ensure that the potential Contractor is qualified to perform work to your satisfaction. For example: Does the company carry Liability and Worker's Compensation Insurance? Are they licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection? This can be verified by calling Consumer Protection @ 1-800-842-2649 and checking their Licensed Contractor's Registration Number. Weathertite Systems LLC can answer these questions in the affirmative and routinely provides such documentation during Customer inquiries. Does the Contractor have a regular business office? Weathertite Systems LLC's office is located in Prospect, CT.

Another very important question is the extent of the written warranty and your satisfaction guarantee with the Contractor's installation. You can view Weathertite Systems' warranty policy in the About Us section. Weathertite Systems LLC offers a selection of the most comprehensive warranties in the industry. You should select the local Contractor that provides you with a written estimate, discloses warranty and product information and provides you with a price you feel comfortable with.

Q. How do I obtain a free estimate? top of page

A. You may use the Obtain A Free Estimate Link (link) option on this site, Contact us:
WeathertiteLLC@aol.com or call us Toll Free 1-866-NOLEAK.5.

Q. If you visit our home or business and give us a free estimate, are we obligated to use your Company? top of page

A. We give potential customers the best advice and price available. We will answer all your questions and discuss options available to you, however, you are not obligated to use our company.

Q. Do I have to be home to obtain my free estimate? top of page

A. We recommend that you make arrangements to be home to allow our estimator access to your
attic or crawl space to check the roof structure and ventilation. Reputable roofing contractors look
for hidden leaks, deck deterioration, proper connection of exhaust vents and signs of moisture
accumulation due to "moisture drive". It is also to your advantage to meet with any estimators to
discuss specific goals in acquiring your new roof because each estimator will have slightly different recommendations in terms of materials and available options. This will allow you an opportunity to get a feel for the company's performance in scheduling and keeping appointments.

Q. Will you tell me when the project will start and be completed? top of page

A. Absolutely. Delays beyond our control, such as weather conditions can occur, but in most cases we can provide very accurate start and finish dates.

Q. Do I need to protect items inside my house from possible damage? top of page

A. Yes. There is some vibration that transfers through the frame of the home. Fragile items, not securely fastened or nested, should be secured and protected. Picture frames not securely mounted to the wall and delicate free standing objects such as crystal should be protected from vibration.

Q. Will there be debris in my attic after the work is completed? top of page

A. Yes. Fine grit can fall between cracks of the decking. There will also be some saw dust in the attic from the required Ridgevent installation. Why do I need a Ridgevent? Ridgevents expel heat and humidity build-up in the attic space created from day to day living activities. Leaking problems often occur from poor ventilation. A Ridgevent is a standard installation on all Weathertite Systems, LLC roofing projects because it is essential to maintain adequate ventilation and comply with the shingle manufacturer's warranty requirements. A common reason for shingle manufacturers denying claims for shingle defects is lack of adequate ventilation. It is recommended that you cover anything where accumulation of this material will be a concern.

Q. What about possible damage to my home's exterior and landscaping? top of page

A. Weathertite Systems LLC has a dedicated ground crew  whose main concern is to insure that your home and property is protected at all times from falling debris and to ensure that residual materials are removed from your property at the end of the project. Brooms and magnetic sweepers are utilized to remove any nails that may have popped out. With Weathertite Systems LLC, your property will look exactly like it did before the work began, except you will have a quality roof installation that will accent your most valuable asset. Your home. Guaranteed!

Q. How will I know that I'm getting good value for my money? top of page

A. The price of a new roof varies widely, depending on the materials selected. We recommend you obtain other quotes from reputable Contractors in your area. Value is not just about price. It includes product, services, warranty and workmanship. In the roofing profession there are different levels of expertise and craftsmanship. Also, roofing materials have different grades, styles, shapes and corresponding prices. You need to look at the full range of product and make your decision based on your budget and needs. Compare those quotes and ask questions. Quite often the cheapest solution is potentially more damaging than one which appears slightly more expensive.
